Horse rides (West White Poplar Gully, Xinjiang)

Kazakh herdsmen are renting ponies to tourists at the West White Poplar Gully (Southern Pastures, Xinjiang). The Southern Pastures are the summer grazing grounds of Kazakh herds. The livestock - sheep, goats, cattle, horses and perhaps a few bactrian camels - spend the summer in the mountains. Tourism brings much needed funds to the herders' household economy.
