This Trait Breton stallion, with his family group of mares and foals, is grazing heathland near Paimpont (Ille-et-Vilaine). The horses have been brought in to control the gorse which tends to take over such habitats unless controlled. The man in the photo is observing and recording their social behaviour. He is, in turn, closely observed by the stallion.
