The Rumps, an Iron Age promontory fort, Cornwall
Ref: 780812-067-36 Date: 12-08-1978
The Rumps is a late Iron Age promontory fort in northern Cornwall. It was built on a basalt promonotory that juts into the Atlantic Ocean. The site seems to have been occupied from around the 2nd century BC to the 1st century AD. The ramparts in the middle ground of the photo were built presumably for defensive purposes.
