Herdsman atop Iron Age burial mound, Sergeevka, Kazakhstan

The herder, on top of an Early Iron Age Kurgan at Sergeevka, Kazakhstan, is keeping an eye on his livestock below. Scytho-Siberian Kurgans are Early Iron Age burial mounds on the steppes and mountains of central Eurasia. The dating of this kurgan is circa 7th-3rd century BC. It has been robbed but, at the time this photo was taken, not yet excavated.
