Restored building in Gaochang ancient city (Turfan, Xinjiang)

This is a restored building from the ancient city, Gaochang (Turfan basin, Xinjiang). Gaochang was occupied from the Western Han dynasty to the Ming dynasty (circa 2nd century BC - 15th century AD). Throughout much of its history it was one of the most important cities on the Silk Road.
