Restored building in Gaochang ancient city (Turfan, Xinjiang)

This is a restored building from the ancient city, Gaochang (Turfan basin, Xinjiang). Gaochang was occupied from the Western Han dynasty to the Ming dynasty (circa 2nd century BC - 15th century AD). Throughout much of its history it was one of the most important cities on the Silk Road. The young tourists are taking shelter from the intense heat in the rare shade.
