Stonehenge before it was fenced in (Wiltshire)

I took this photo of Stonehenge archaeological site in 1971, before it was fenced in to keep the public away from the centre. On this wet, November day, there were only a few visitors, communing with the stones. The megalithic stone circle was constructed over the period from around 2600 to 1600 BC BC, the Neolithic to the Bronze Age.
