Ref: 070524-0637 Date: 24-05-2007
Crossing the Maloe More (the Little Sea): the strait between the west shore of Lake Baikal and Olkhon Island. Archaeological sites are scattered over the lake shores dating at least from the Neolithic to the Medieval period and possibly beyond (from around 8000 years ago to modern times). The lake is considered by native Siberian peoples to be sacred. Its ecology is unique.
