The Cathedral of St. Basil the Blessed (also known as The Cathedral of the Intercession, and Pokrovsky Cathedral) was built (1555-61) by Ivan IV the Terrible to celebrate the conquest of the Tatar city of Kazan. It is located at the southern end of Red Square in Moscow. The eclectic architectural style has been described as Russian-Byzantine, Asian-Byzantine etc.
